We finally won a toss and elected to bat. Oli made his intentions clear early hitting his first ball for 6. Two wickets fell in quick succession bringing Will and Matt F together. Determination in the face of some very good bowling took the score along to 70 before Will lost his wicket having made 40. Matt F batted on with a number of partners finally losing his wicket as he reached 62. The tail end took the score to 155. The Trinity College spinners bowled superbly, taking most of the wickets.
After a short lunch break, we took the field believing we had a good chance to pull off the second win of the tour. Our plans were scuppered by a young Sri Lankan by the name of Dilan who scored 58 runs from 30 balls. To their credit, the Barker boys never gave up and once Dilan was removed the fight was on. The boys played with resolve and confidence and in the end Trinity passed our total 8 wickets down. It was a very entertaining game and the Barker coaches were very proud of the manner in which the boys played and the fight they showed.
The game finished earlier than expected and the boys were keen to do some shopping so we all headed into Kandy central to descend upon the unsuspecting locals. There was much haggling for shirts, watches and other souvenirs as we were harassed on every corner by merchants selling their wares. Thommo and Bindog managed to score a half decent cup of coffee, giving them a much needed boost when rounding everyone up to return to the hotel for a swim and some relaxation. We are all looking forward to tomorrow's game hopeful we can jag a win.
